Answers to common questions. Still stuck? We're happy to help directly.
How do stations work?
Tap a station on the Stations tab (a genre or mood, like "Pop" or "Hip-Hop") and FMify builds a fresh queue from Jamendo and Audiomack and starts playing right away. Playback begins as soon as the first track is chosen — the rest of the queue keeps filling in behind it.
Why is FMify asking for my location?
Only because you turned on a narration category that needs it — "Today's Weather," "This Week's Weather," or "Local News." FMify never asks for location at launch or for any other reason; turn those toggles off and the prompt won't appear again on a fresh install.
I don't hear any weather or news narration.
Both categories degrade gracefully rather than erroring: weather needs Apple WeatherKit enabled for the app and location permission granted, and news needs a NewsAPI.org key configured. If either isn't set up yet, that category is simply skipped, and the rest of the narration (title/artist, or whichever categories ARE configured) still plays normally.
What do the thumbs up/down and heart icons do?
Thumbs up and the heart are purely a record of your preference — they don't change what plays. Thumbs down is permanent: that track is excluded from every future station load and never comes back.
How does the crossfade bar work?
It blends the current and next track on an equal-power curve. It moves on its own as the current track nears its end, or you can drag it by hand to blend early — release past the centre point and the transition completes on its own.
Can I change the narration voice?
Yes — Settings has a "Narration Voice" picker listing every voice installed on your device, plus a System Default option. Changes take effect on the very next narration drop.
